Beat
Make Jake makes beats.
Born in Greenfield Mass in July of '87, he
was drawn to Yo!
MTV Raps at a young age, and things haven't been the same
since.
By the turn of the century, Jake was fed up with the sounds on
the radio and TV, longing for something different.
After discovering that one of his high school classmates had
a mini-studio in his room, Jake dove head-first into production.
Joining forces with that classmate (Asa
Ruven), Jake became one-half of
one of the most potent production
teams around (which isn't really saying much). After he was
introduced to a local rapper named Name
Brand (who
later morphed into Stickafus)
in 2006, Jake helped form the crew that he would eventually christen as
Mass Production.
After finally getting his own equipment, Jake helped
construct the all-instrumental collaborative album If A Beat
Drops In The Woods... along with Asa Ruven in 2007, as
well as countless other beats for the Mass Pro crew. In 2010, he
dropped his first solo album, Smithereens,
which featured
the illest vocal parts from a bunch of rap songs set to his own
hypnotic production. Mobb Deep, Busta Rhymes, Pete Rock, One Be
Lo, EPMD, M.O.P., Nas, O.C., and more hip-hop royalty all the Beat Make
Jake remix treatment, and the result was an impressive collection of
beats and rhymes.
Jake is by far the most consistent member of the
Mass Pro when it comes to making music, spending countless hours
hunched over his busted-up MPC 1000. Since joining forces with Big Loop for the studio in Millers
Falls, his obsession has only increased. At this
point he is completely addicted to making beats, constantly crafting
soulful jams that keep your head rockin...
